CSU COAST and California Ocean Science Trust Ocean Day Luncheon

Building Capacity and Knowledge for Responsible Ocean Energy in California

May 6, 2025 | 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. | Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Offshore wind (OSW) energy is a key component of California’s transition to 100% clean energy by 2045. With ambitious goals of deploying 2-5 GW of OSW energy by 2030 and 25 GW by 2045, the state’s deep coastal waters necessitate the use of floating wind turbines. This panel will engage in a science-forward discussion on the future of floating OSW in California over the coming decades. Attendees will gain insights into the opportunities and challenges of this technology and its role in California’s clean energy future.
